Can anyone help trace four Royal Signals D Day verterans? They survived a crashed landing in a glider on the 6th June at the Chateau de Grangues, near Cabourg. They flew from Harwell at 1.30am in Horsa Glider No. 74 together with my uncle Captain John Max of 6th Airborne. He was killed in the crash. The survivors we are trying to trace are: L/Cpl W.D. Ainsley, Sgmn F.L. Howarth, sgmn F.W. Martin and Cpl A.D.MacDonald. All were taken prisoner and presumably survived the war. Another survivour of the crash was L/Cpl Sydney Ellis of the Royal Army Service Corps. Any information about him would also be much appreciated.

Hi to you good people, what a great site, I havent had time till now to search for my past but this sure has brought back some good memories. I have often wondered what happened to all those nice guys and girls I met during my days in the Signals and through your hard work have found some so thanks.

Hi Petra, Brian amd Kieth,
I have just become aware of this great facility you offer and would love to hear from any of my old muckers who remember me. I joined 8 Troop, at Helles Barracks, 11 Sigs Regt back in April 1970. I went on to 24 Sigs and participated in the amalgamation with 8 Sigs. I was posted to 30 Sigs at Blandford Camp in Feb 1971. I served on RP staff here and was medically retired after developing diabetes, while at Perbrite, where we were involved in Public duties in London. my discharge was very rapid and I was unable to have much dealings with anyone. I would love to hear from anyone who remembers me.Thank you petra, brian and Kieth for this wonderful opportunity you control.

regards to you all

Lloyd "Chico" Maycock.
