Thanks to Google I found this excellent site. I was very pleased to find it because it concentrates on ex-Royal Signals personnel and related matters. It's another invaluable channel for renewing contact with old service friends (we're all getting old now but we were young then).

I soon found the Photo Albums section and on scrolling down was amazed to see 614 Signal Troop. I quickly clicked the link and there were 3 pictures. Under one it said "A view of the Club that we built." I showed my wife, who was equally amazed as we had both used the club when I was at 614 in 1964-65. I said "Whoever posted it must be on the site somewhere and we will know whoever it is."

Then I looked at the Now and Then photos and as the second row of images appeared there was a face we immediately recognised - the late Brian Streetly. I said, "That's who posted the photo of the bar and he must be registered on here with contact info." It was soon after this that we discovered the site was run by the very same - unbelievable. It had been over 40 years since we had last seen Brian.

I registered and then emailed Brian to say Hi. Since that time we exchanged emails and the number of 614 photos was added to by Brian and myself. Where previously we happened to have served together for a time we developed the friendship we never got around to previously through recalling our shared experiences, events and memories of others with whom we served.

Whilst it's made clear on the home page that the site has no official recognition I discovered that Mike Graham, who took over from Brian, has no financial support other than the few donations he receives. All running costs are met by him and an enormous amount of his time is spent in running the site. What began as little more than a lost/missing poster on the web to try and make contact with 2 old friends grew into what we have today. He deserves whatever help, financial or otherwise that he can get. Any donation however small has to be better than nothing.

Thanks to the late Brian Streetly for creating a great site and Mike Graham for continuing Brian's work. Due to its success is very active. Long may it remain so. I'm sure the site has enabled many people to renew friendships and relive times gone by. As long as it continues it will continue to provide a priceless service to the Corps ex-personnel.

You may recall that sometime last year I contacted you with regards to contacting my future daughter-in-laws father, ex L/Corp Stephen Lee.

I am pleased to be able to tell you that at last we have made some progress.

Last night I was contacted by his brother, who incidentally was also in the Royal Signals, who is meeting with Stephen on Friday at a surprise party being held for their father. Cathryne is 'over the moon' as one would expect and making arrangements to contact her father herself.

Tony - Stephen's brother, contacted me after seeing my appeal on your website, so our grateful thanks go out to you for your help and assistance in allowing me to make the appeal on your website.

Kind regards and thanks again.

Subject: Thank You

From: Phil Seaton

Hi

I found your site through the links page at Forces/Friends Reunited where I am a member. I have had no luck at all with them. My first hit with you has turned up two people I served with in 3 Infantry Brigade Northern Ireland in the early 1970s, in fact Bob Pakes found your site the day after I did. Dennis Southwick told me he had to email you because he had trouble getting me from your database. I also emailed Dave Cormack from your site and as yet have had no reply - this could be for many reasons but I thought I would inform you anyway. Thanks for the site I shall pass it on to any ex-Corps members I come across.

Yours

Phil Seaton

Amazing!

I plugged in to your site and already had an e-mail from a buddy now living in Tokyo, another in Kenya and yet another up the road in Winnipeg.

Great site

Thank you
