Just after midnight, in the early hours of 4th February 1974, soldiers and families were returning by coach along the M62 motorway to Catterick from a weekend break in the North West of England when the coach was torn apart by an IRA bomb that had been planted on board. 12 persons were murdered that night, so please tonight spare a thought for Sig. Michael Eugine Waugh age 22, Sig. Leslie David Walsh age 17, Sig. Paul Anthony Reid age 17. Also please remember the other murdered victims from Royal Artillary, 2nd RRF and the 3 dependants who died that cold morning. If you are passing Hartshead Services west bound on the 4th Feb 2004, call in and read the tablet and reflect on what happened 30 years ago.

Alan, Many thanks for the reminder of the date and time of the incident. There names are inscribed in our book of last posts, so all the time this site runs they will be remembered.
