Having run an online business for many years must say please do not respond to spammers, if you do you then they have confirmed your email address that will be passed on, received an email from “Edmund” last week clearly not him by the tone of the email…Certa Cito!

Steve is right, but sadly even the best of us have had email addresses lifted at some time. Often this happens when some well-meaning person includes our email address on a website, or when we carelessly enter it in a comment log like this one or in the Gallery. Where I see those on this website I try to remove and/or encrypt them, but nowadays spambots are much cleverer and quicker than we are frown
To check if your email address has been lifted you can visit this site. But beware - for all I know it may simply be harvesting email addresses itself!

Msg to Edmund Hodges. Looks like you have been hi-jacked again. I have just had a request for £200
Alan

Edmund is aware of these messages being sent and is in contact with his ISP.
If you look carefully at the “from” address you’ll see that someone has registered an account with Edmund’s ISP in Edmund’s name. But they have inserted a full stop (.) between his first and surname. His real address does not have the full stop.
The messages sent to me allegedly from Edmund seemed suspicious so I challenged the sender to give me some information only Edmund would know. The messages then stopped. When I got back home I realised what the perpetrator had done.
If you use your full name as the first part of any email addresses be careful you aren’t caught the same way!

My grandfather was active in the Royal Signals. It is connected with some family history research that I am interested in this website. I have his war service record, where he was, during the period 1942-45 the officer commanding the Ceylon Army Signals. I do not know precisely what this unit was, or what it did, and having looked in many places, I am starting to ask others what this Ceylon unit might be. Any help is gratefully received. I can share his war record by email on request. His name was Alan David Carrette.

I wish everyone a healthy wealthy and happy 2019.

Could I also remind you that Mike pays all the running costs of this site from out of his own pocket.

If you feel like you could afford the price of a pint use the donations button and send him a couple of bob to help with the costs.

Thank you

Does anyone, please, have contact with Ian Blair, 3GHQ Episkopi around 1956, as I would very much like to message him. Thank you

I am contacting this group as a mature aviation historian and having completed some five years of research, I have now published a book on the history of the aeronautical HF radio station at Birdlip, Glos., covering the period from 1940-2017. Perhaps some of you may recall this vital facility or indeed possibly worked there as some stage.
This soft-cover book runs to some 470 pages, with over 250 photographs (including equipment and staff) and is priced at STG£27.50 (including post/packing to U.K. mainland addresses).
For further details please visit the Birdlip Radio section of my photo website [www.colinsphotos.net] or simply get in touch via the 'Contact Me' option on my webpage.
I would be delighted to hear from anyone who may have memories and/or old photographs associated with this station or it's matching transmitter site at Winstone, Glos.
Regards,
Colin
