Hi

I'm looking for some information on where my dad served in the 2nd world war. he says he was in the Royal signals and he served with the 15th scotish division. He remembers a red lion on a black backround on his arm.

We have seen this insignia in Bauxon museam ( sorry for the spelling ) it,s where the tapestry is..
I know he drove because he says that he was with a high ranking person??? I have seen a photo of him in on a white charger horse that he says belonged to Rommel and he was taken when they surrendered.

I'm very proud of my Dad and I wish that I could help jog his memory a bit .

Kind Regards

Robert Clive Howells,,,son of Robert John Howells. ;)
I have heard that they called him Singer Howells because he carried a sewing machine home for his mam..

A waste of time entering your postings here. Once this page disappears It is doubtful if it will be read very often. Really do need to enter your postings into the database. Not the guestbook . Look at the top of this page.. :'(

Can anyone help trace four Royal Signals D Day verterans? They survived a crashed landing in a glider on the 6th June at the Chateau de Grangues, near Cabourg. They flew from Harwell at 1.30am in Horsa Glider No. 74 together with my uncle Captain John Max of 6th Airborne. He was killed in the crash. The survivors we are trying to trace are: L/Cpl W.D. Ainsley, Sgmn F.L. Howarth, sgmn F.W. Martin and Cpl A.D.MacDonald. All were taken prisoner and presumably survived the war. Another survivour of the crash was L/Cpl Sydney Ellis of the Royal Army Service Corps. Any information about him would also be much appreciated.
